Young Voices

How can we help?

We offer Independent Professional Advocacy to children and young people who are living in North Wales who are not in receipt of support from social services or CAMHS.

What is Advocacy?

Advocacy aims to empower vulnerable young people by giving them a voice to share their thoughts and feelings, making sure they get heard. By informing them about their rights and providing a way to communicate, it gives them more say in decisions that can impact their lives.

The aim of advocacy is to assist in the following areas:

  • Amplify the voice of young people
  • Ensure young people understand their rights
  • Give young people a space to talk openly
  • Improve communication between a young person and adults in their lives
  • Help young people to access the services they need
  • Allow young people to make a complaint

Who is Eligible?

The criterion for this new service is wide ranging and will include all young people in North Wales, of secondary school age (11-18), not currently eligible for statutory advocacy services or receiving a service from CAMHS. Issues would include but not be limited to young people suffering with anxiety, low mood and depression, school attendance, bullying, or suffering due to family breakdown or bereavement.

There needs to be a clear issue, or issues for the advocate to help them with, that have tangible outcomes or an agreed endpoint. This issue or issues will be defined by the child or young person themselves, and we will not support issues that are deemed to be those of parents/carers or professionals in the child or young persons’ life.

How do I get in touch?

Young people can refer themselves directly either through the contact from on our young persons webpage, by text, phone or email.
