Events update for 2019
There have been some great events happening through 2019. They include the following:
Quiz Night at The Royal-This annual quiz night organised by our trustee Penny is always a huge hit, with challenging and fun questions and raises lots of money and our profile each year
Mari swims the Channel- Mari Jefferis, Our team manager from Mid & West Wales took on a swimming event that saw her swim 22 miles at her local leisure centre in Aberystwyth, the equivalent of swimming the channel . She gave her reasons behind the swim as this, “ I was born on the 2nd of the 2nd; I married Mark on the 2nd of the 2nd 2002. My parents’ anniversary is on the 22nd of 2nd ” . Mari did a great job with this challenge and raised lots of funds and local awareness of the work of the charity.
Incognito Fashion Show– Mid & West Wales team held a fantastic Fashion Show and the young people that took part as models had a great time dressing up clothes sourced from a charity shop
100 mile Highland Hike– Pete Bradley, Advocate for Mid & West Wales Advocacy Service hiked over one hundred miles across the Scottish West Highland Way Path and climbed to the summit of Ben Nevis in 6 days. This raised over £1000 and grew awareness of TGP Cymru.
Cotswold Classic– Taking on yet another huge challenge, this year Advocate Tony Holling completed the Cotswold Challenge triathlon which was 1.1 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run- amazing feat yet again!
Cardiff Half Marathon– We had our first ‘Team TGP Cymru’ running this event this year and they all did a fantastic job, with great running times, and enjoyed the sunshine and crowds supporting along the iconic route around Cardiff. Their fundraising page raised over £650 and grateful thanks go to Kelly, Andrew, Pete and Laura. We want to make this an annual event so please consider signing up and setting this as a goal for 2020!
